What do I need to bring to the workout?


A good attitude! We ask that kids be willing to participate voluntarily to keep things fun for everyone involved. Water bottles are encouraged but not required; we will have water, cups and snacks for each child. Parents may bring lawn chairs and non-alcoholic beverages while they wait.




How long are Run SA Youth meet-ups?


Roughly 45min-1 hour. If you arrive late or need to leave early, no problem!




What should parents do while the kids workout?


Parents must remain within the immediate vicinity at all times and be responsible for their child(ren). Run SA Youth workouts are held in active public parks. We have a healthy ratio of coaches to participants, but we want as many eyes as possible supervising Run SA Youth participants. Parents generally bring lawn chairs and beverages while they wait on their children. Parents are also welcome to take a more active role at each meet-up by volunteering, but it is not required.




Are Run SA Youth meet-ups safe?


As mentioned, parents must remain within the immediate vicinity at all times and be responsible for their child(ren). Run SA Youth (RSAY) workouts are held in active public parks. RSAY has a healthy ratio of coaches to participants, but we want as many eyes as possible supervising RSAY participants. In addition, RSAY coaches have a strong working relationship with the San Antonio Police Department and regular patrols are conducted during RSAY meet-ups at the park. Suspicious activity that could threaten or endanger RSAY participants will be immediately reported.




What are the incentives for kids to workout?


We want kids to build healthy habits and recognize the importance of daily physical actvity. Consistency = habit formation. To encourage kids to attend Run SA Youth meet-ups, we have an incentivized program that allows them to earn freebies for every few meet-ups they attend. Incentives are determined by attendance participation over a season. Freebies include stickers, water bottles, and even a new pair of running shoes from our sponsors at Fleet Feet San Antonio, a local specialty running store.




Do kids need to attend every single meet-up in order to participate?


No! Kids can attend Run SA Youth meet-ups whenever their schedules allow. It’s a great way to ensure your child gets a solid amount of daily physical activity in their routine.




Do kids need prior experience to participate?


No! Run SA Youth is proud to have a program that has a place for every child, whether they are athletic or not. Each of our workouts can be modified to fit all abilities, from beginners to kids hoping to stay in shape during the fall/winter months.

What is Run SA Youth?


Run SA Youth (RSAY) is a 501 (c)3 non-profit organization holding free running-based workouts in local parks to kids ages 6-12. RSAY workout meet-ups are held year-round at two San Antonio park locations; Kennedy Park (78226) and Mission County Park (78214). Children are welcome to attend meet-ups as their schedules allow. My child is not yet 6 years of age, can he/she participate?


Our current program is only for children ages 6-12.




When are Run SA Youth meet-ups held?


Run SA Youth currently holds year-round, seasonal programming:
1) Winter Program | January-February
2) Spring/Summer Program | April-July
3) Fall Program | September- December
